Yet it has one of the richest histories in South Carolina and probably ranks in historic interest with Many better known towns in the nation. Last sunday a new school build ing was dedicated in society Hill with fitting exercises. The first St. David s Academy was organized at society Hill on dec. 13, 1777. It was incorporated in december 1778. The founding of St. David s Academy dates Back to the forma Tion of St. David s society which grew out of an earlier organization known As the planter s club. As Harvey Toliver Cook says in his tile life and legacy of David Bogor on the platform of the society was Equality of Opportunity and Cooper Ilion in the work of education.
