August Andrews College and while up there Shaw had three of his Letterman to leave Camp for no apparent reason and a fourth was seriously injured. The three that left Camp were linemen As was Peanut Griffin who was seriously injured when lie fractured the Layr Nax in his neck and he s in the Hospital right Shaw. Griffin s injury was a real blow to the squad and to me because he was one of the most Well liked persons on the team and was a team Leaden Griffin was an outstanding end for us last year and lettered for us the last three Shaw continued. Without the linemen Shaw May have difficulties in getting run Ning room for his explosive Backfield. Our Backfield is our Strong suit. Two Sumter Brothers Nate and Levon will provide the Speed with both boys running 100 Yard dash in 9.8 seconds and 10.0 seconds respect quarterback Mac Smith is a returning Letterman and will again handle the signal calling duties for the sea Hawks and senior Bryan Mcmillan will be Back to help carry the ground game Load for Shaw s squad. Well probably have to bring four or five Guys up from our Junior varsity squad to give us some depth in certain explained Shaw. If the sea Hawks Are to better last year s record then will have to develop Early and give the front Walla Little starch. Loris coach Ted Wade begins his first year at of the Loris i ions and it could be quite a Challenge to the former Charleston area coach to improve on last year s 6-4 season record. Coach Wade has six Letterman returning from that team and except for the Backfield there is very Little experience in his 26 men roster for this year. Our backs should be our Strong commented the head men Lor. The Backfield will consist of quarterback Barry Cox who accor Ding to Wade is an adequate passer should we need to throw the football but a passing game is not in our plans. We plan to stay on the ground and run it Over and Cox is a Good Ball Sophomore full Brick Kussell Cox. Russell has been most impressive thus far and being Only a Sophomore hell he an excellent player with a year or so of experienc at 5 8" and Lliel pounds he is described As a hard nosed aggressive fou Ball player. Johnny Wilson will held Down the right halfback Slot for. The Lions. Wilson played split end last season and the versatile player will be sharing the quarterback duties this fall should Wade need his help. Senior Wayne John son at 5 8" and Iso pounds will be it the other half Back spol to round out the Baek Field. With this talented Backfield Wade never wheless will have a problem. No front line to break them Loose. The Ollen Sive line from guard to guard will be . But we Hur Ting for experience from there on out. We have fair size up front but we re Ruf us cause will be Al Center with Ren Chest nut and Lee Green Al the guard slots. All three players Only weigh around the 160 Pound Mark each but Are considered Tough competitors. Vincent Powers Al 210 pounds will be the biggest lineman and along with Larry Quick will control the tackle slots. Al tight end will in Gary Holmes and out at split end will be senior w. C. Farrar. Defensively most of the players will have logo both ways. Kirsly year player cd Mccausey will Anchor the defensive squad. A 6 2" Pound senior who will play defense Only is called by Wade a top notch Prospect with Good quickness who could be the key to our defense this Bobby Capps will do the extra Point conver Sions again this year and will also do the Pun Ling.
