The fall and Winter sports produced one Surprise after another. Like the ludwigs Burg stallions Romp Over the Seldom beaten Frankfurt eagles in football and the Munich Mustangs win Over the Wiesbaden warriors in the class a basketball Champion ship game. We Don t have to wait Long to see How much More of the unexpected can be crammed into this school year. This weekend s loaded schedule is headed by track regional a five Sites ludwigs Burg Wiesbaden upper hey Ford Madrid and Livorno. Meanwhile the Tennis players will be trying to decide who belongs in the finals with regional meets at Heidelberg Ber Lin Lakenheath and Livorno. There is also a full slate of soccer games in the Blue and red divisions. Coach Leo Palmer of ludwigs Burg said this week that the South Ern track meet will be held at his school s track As plans to use a nearby German stadium have fallen through. The Northern finals Are set for the dyckerhoff sport Platz located about a mile from Wiesbaden s Lindsey air station off the new autobahn to Frankfurt. The top finishers in the track regional will move on to the us Desea finals at Nuernberg on Friday and saturday of next week. The Tennis championships Are set for Garmisch May 19-29. Two new contenders the stars and stripes annual Hunt for the top athlete in us Desea is Well under Way with two Strong contenders from Frankfurt challenging ludwigs Burg s Pat Twomey who was nominated last week. Joining the race this week were Charles Steve Chapman and Bernie Smith. Chapman was nominated by his wrestling coach Artnur Mccoy and Smith was Given a shot at the stars and stripes Honor by his basketball coach George Ausra. Both Chapman and Smith Are standouts in three sports with above average grades for their class work. Both gained All league honors in football and Are key members on the eagles defend ing us Desea championship track team.
