Following an extensive investigation by Escanaba Public safety police arrested Branden Ray Cap Peart 27, of 1829 3rd ave. A no. 3, Escanaba on March 10 on charges related to the break in at a byes last july. Cap Peart was bound Over from Delta county District court to Cir Cuit court last week on three felonies. He is charged with break ing and entering a building with intent a 10-year felony larceny in a building a four year felony and tampering with evidence a four year felony. Allegedly the suspect broke into the restaurant at 607 n. Lincoln Road sometime overnight late Fri Day july 18, or Early saturday july 19, when he stole Money from the business then later attempted to destroy evidence. By Jordan Beck Escanaba Delta county search and Rescue Ocsar has been selected As one of 12 finalists for Bridges tone tires fuel the cause contest this year Ocsar director Tate Thompson said. Fuel the cause is an annual con test meant to help Public organizations and initiatives that Are in need of financial support. Winners of the contest Are determined by Public vote. Thompson said he was Happy to learn that Ocsar was picked As a finalist from this years Pool of More than1,000 entrants. I was pretty excited Thompson said. Voting for fuel the cause will begin on april 1, and will run through april 30. If Ocsar is selected As the contests grand prize Winner when results Are announced Early in May they will be Given a $25,000 Grant. Thompson said the Volunteer Agency would use this Money to construct a dedicated search and Rescue building. The Escanaba tournament combined with a semifinal appearance in the traverse City tournament should ensure them a spot in the state finals and possibly the world championship. By Jason Raiche Escanaba this weekends for inspiration and recognition of science and technology first robotics District event in Escanaba was another Success with two local teams placing Well enough to Advance to the state finals. The Gladstone Brav bots team 4391, finished second of All 40 teams participating in Friday and saturdays Competition. This year robots competed in a game with a recycling theme called Recycle Rush. The Brav bots teamed up with Houghton and Calumet in the play offs this year securing a spot in the finals by having the top Overall scor ing average before losing to an All lower Peninsula Alliance according to team coach tim Barron. In Addi tion the Brav bots received the Industrial design award sponsored by general motors. Their finish combined with a Semi final appearance during a tra verse City District event will secure them a spot in the state finals held april 9 to 11 in grand rapids and potentially a spot in the world championships in st. Louis mo., he said. The Brav bots Are sponsored in part by Emp and Metal Linus synergy with 34 students on the team. Several adult mentors parents and adults have also provided the team with support.
