New expanded programs for fall semester at Bay by Jordan Beck Escanaba Bay colleges fall 2015 semester officially begins monday and this year Stu dents will be Able to take advantage of new and expanded programs and facilities. Though final enrolment numbers will not be calculated until the end of september according to Bay College president Laura Coleman enrolment rates for the fall 2015 semester have been meeting the colleges targets so far. There will be More new students joining Bay this year than there have been in the past four years and the number of dually enrolled students has Dou bled since 2014. Were really excited about that she said. Additionally the schools new Early College program for students from Gladstone and rapid River will begin during the new semester. One of the factors influencing this semesters enrolment rates has been the addition of several new degrees and classes to the colleges roster. Drug crime by Jenny Lancour Escanaba an Fri search warrant executed this summer at a downstate pain management clinic seized files of patients known to be drug addicts and drug dealers living in Escanaba. According to evidence and wit Ness statements included in the search warrant the doctor who ran the clinic allegedly wrote prescriptions to several patients Mak ing the 750-mile round trip from Escanaba to Lansing. Former patients also stated the doctor came to the upper Peninsula and allegedly wrote prescriptions from his vehicle. Fri have been investigating or. Paul Deweese 60, for More than a year following various allegations including the physician was falsifying medical records and he was filling prescriptions for Escanaba patients at the Lansing clinic without examinations or testing of individuals. Based on the of bids investigation including information received from Law enforcement and cooperating witnesses from the Escanaba area the search warrant was requested from the . District court in Lansing on june 15, 2015. The special Fri agent who authored the search warrant showed probable cause Deweese was involved in several different crimes including drug diversion health care fraud and falsification of patient information involving health care Benefit programs.
