Delaware County Daily Times (Newspaper) - September 26, 1970, Chester, Pennsylvania Window dedication planned by Church Inether Providence a .1 i n g f o r d presbyterian cd lurch Brookhaven and Avondale roads with its pastor i Rev. John b. Rowland presiding will dedicate a new stained Glass window at its worship services at and 11 . Sunday. The installation of the window is the last major project in the Church s building and improve ment program which began two years ago. The window which fills the West Wall of the Church depicts he history of the Christian Church. The Center panel pictures Christ commissioning the disciples the holy spirit coming to the Church at Pentecost and the Council of Jerusalem. Which confirmed the world Mission of the Church. A Side panel pictures the great european reformers Luther Calvin and Knox. The other Side panel recalls the history of the United presbyterian Church in America with pictures of Christian school sets open House monday Francis Mckemie of presbyterianism in the colonies. Also pictured in the Side panel Are John Witherspoon a presbyterian educator and statesman and a r c u s Whitman a medical missionary on the Western Frontier. The window was designed and made by the Willet stained Glass studios of Philadelphia. A distinctive feature of it is the use of Clear antique Glass backgrounds for the stained Glass figures which both accents them and maintains the awareness of the world outside in the minds of those in the Church. Paid for by the memorial fund of the Church the Irindow stands As a memorial to Many departed members in whose names memorial gifts have been made Over the past years. Chester open House is planned at the Bible presbyterian Church 13th and Potter sts., for parents and friends of students of the Chester Christian school from 7 to 9 . Monday. The school was organized in 1951 by a group of parents concerned with the removal of prayer and Bible Reading from the classroom for kindergarten first and second Grade. The original enrolment of 35 children has grown to More than 300 students in pre kindergarten through ninth grades. The school has purchased a lot of 34 acres in Middletown for the purpose of building a school Complex to include senior High grades. Although construction of the new school is expected to begin Early next year the Board of trustees is considering adding a 10th Grade to the present facilities for next school year according to an school spokesman. 3f.
