Knight, till the Year 1720, was as generally efteem'd as known j and if he fell in that Year, when fo few flood, a good-n&tur'd Man woiild chufe to recollect fuchCircmhftances as might._extenuate (and many fuch there were) rather than aggravate his Fault: But inftead of this, the Writer of the Letter in the Daily Pojl of the 20th iMant, after excluding Mr. Knight guilty, from the Preambles of feveral Afts of Parliament, (which have been thought by many unprejudiced4 Perfohs very extraordinary, both/as to the' Matter and Manner of paffing them),fea aifir^d> *ha* He Knight lbBdsi^^t^^i''maebted to the Cbnt-tany in no lefs a Sum than 8600001. If Truth would ferve the Turn, every Man would ufe it; But when it will not, fome Perfons are not over-fcrupulQus in the Choice of Means, even when they are cenluring others for want of Honefty. If the Letter-Writer could make the Proprietors believe, that Mr. Knight was really Debtor to the Company in fo great a Sum as 8600001. this, befides the Tendency it would have to inflame the Proprietors againft him, would lead them to think that a great part of that Sum may probably remain in his Hands, and confequently to look upon any Sum he may offer is a Trifle: Whereas had the Writer inform'd the Proprietors, (as the Fad is) that in an Aft made (amongft other Tlings) for Payment of Mr. Knight's Creditors, \which Payment was obftructed by the Company's Claim) this great Sim was mentioned barely as a Claim entered before the Traftees/ and that this Claim had not been profecuteds and r at the fame time had told them that 7000001. of it-arofe, n-. However, it's. to "tie hop'd the Difappointment will not drive any one fo far into Defpair as to hang himfelf upon this (Oc.cafion. On SuiiSay next .two Charity Sermons will be preach'd at the Parifh Church of St. Edmund the King iii Lombard-Street, for the Benefit of the Charity Boys of Langboura v Ward ; that in the Morning by the Rev. Dr. Cartwright, Archdeacon of Colchefter, and Rector of St. Chriftopher'a ; and that in the Afternoon by the Rev. Mr. Lloyd, Lecturer of St. Dionis Backchurch. Among all the various Creatures that have bereft fhewri in publick, none gives fuch general Satisfaction as the vyonderftri Gigan^ckPruffian Colt, which is {hewn at the White Horfe Inn in Fleet-Street- This furprifing Creature, who is but four Years old, is near a Hand higher than the Horfe th'af was fhewn at Charihg-Crofs, and fo gentle as to give the greateft Satisfaction in fhewing to the moft timorous.
