The distress warrant so issued shall collectible any sheriff or Constable or tax collector in the same manner As any other warrant for the distraint and Sale of personal property. The amount to collected shall include Cost of publication of the notice As herein provided All interest and penalties upon such tax and the fees of the collecting officer As prescribed Law. Any taxpayer affected May at anytime pay to the treasurer the amount of delinquent taxes and penalty As shown the personal property list plus the Cost of publication of the notice and any other costs prior to the issuance of the distress warrant herein provided. Environmentalists a number of special interest groups Are keeping a watchful Eye on a new political action group called the Iowa citizens for environmental Quality. The avowed purpose of this new organization is to Quot initiate Legal action support legislation influence political Campaign and Monitor state and Federal Agency actions to insure that government and Industry maintain environmental Quality in the new group is an off shoot of the Iowa confederation of environmental organizations which boasts of some 38,500 the born loser members mainly members of the Iowa state education association. Enich the newly appointed judge in the sixth judicial District Michael Enich Grin Neil was a member of the famous 1939 University of Iowa football team known As the Iron men. Survey Iowa democrats Are getting some help from nine political interns in the Telephone poll being conducted for their candidates the Iowa Public opinion Survey corporation. The interns Are students at Livingston College in new Brunswick . A prime purpose of the Telephone Survey is to determine the politics of teen age voters. Through the cooperation of the state crime commission the attorney general s office has been Able to establish the office of area prosecutor. However attorney general Richard Turner Calls this a Quot Stop Gap measure Quot and plans to press for legislation to create the office of District attorney. Turner feels the chances of this Bill being enacted have been greatly enhanced because the lawmakers have trimmed the number of judicial districts from 18 to eight. Under the proposal he submitted to the last legislature each judicial District would have one District attorney. A Grant of $48,000 in Federal funds is being used to help underwrite the Cost of two area prosecutors Ira Skinner of storm Lake and Michael Laughlin of Des Moines. These area prosecutors handle selected criminal cases throughout the state and augment the state s present part time county attorney system in those instances where because of the complexity of certain cases or the time required to try them the services erf a full time experienced prosecutor is needed.
