Coshocton Tribune, The (Newspaper) - December 27, 1965, Coshocton, OhioHighway Slaughter Mars Christmas weekend by United pms International the joyous Christmas week cod turned into a disaster on Ohio s bloodied highways. The highest death toil for any Christmas weekend in history was reported. The Highway patrol said it it was the worst three Day ohday week end on record. The latest count by United press International showed that 47 persons lost their lives on Ohio highways in the period that began at 6 . Thursday and ended at Midnight sunday. In addition there were two fire death to and three miscellaneous fatalities bringing the weekend accidental death toll to at least 52. Highway safety department officials bad predicted that 27 persons would be teed in weekend traffic accidents. By far the worst Day was Christmas Day itself. Twenty one persons were fatally injured in accidents half the total for the weekend. Four of the other deaths were in Hie Cleveland in fires one by suffocation and another in an accidental shoot ing.
