Clearfield Progress (Newspaper) - February 21, 1966, Clearfield, Pennsylvania THE PROGRESS, Clearfield, Curwensville, Philipsburg, Moshannon Valley, Pa., Monday, February 21, 1966 PAGE SEVENTEEN Dear Heloise: I discovered a good way to 6avc my toddler much time and fretting. I attached a wooden spool HOUR FILM SERVICE FREE roll of black and white film with, each $1.00 or more developing charges. WIDMANN DRUG STORES 230 E. Market St. CLEARFIELD (that sewing thread comes on) to the end of the plastic string of all her pull toys. This makes it so easy for her to hold the string which had always slipped out of her little hand before. Young Mother really been frustrated by boxes that say, "To Open Press Here," but they really won't without a struggle. Just rap it sharply with your' index finger knuckle, and will "give" much more easily. Barbara Vail Might prevent a broken fingernail, too. Thanks Barbie. It Sure works. Heloise Dear Heloise: Use your old, large pocket-book (especially if it's plastic-lined on the inside) for a dandy diaper bag for a brief trip. I include a few diapers, ointment, plastic bag for soiled diapers, etc. The nicest thing about the purses is that most of them have well-anchored handles, whereas many diaper bags soon fall apart at the handle areas. Market St. 765-7543 CLEARFIELD Dear Heloise: I keep my large serving plat ters under the linens in drawers, since most shelves are not wide enough to hold them, place a big square of cardboard on top of the platter, and lay the folded dinner cloths on top. Result? Platters are out of the way, and as the two items are usually used at the same time, they are in one place. M. B. Eichelberg LETTER OF LAUGHTER Dear Heloise: My husband was given an electric paint sprayer as a gift, but has never used it. So, I fill it with water to sprinkle my clothes! The spray is so fine, it does a quick and excellent job. Many tank-type vacuums have this attachment, too. Why not use it? Mrs. M. R, Dear Folks: If you are one who uses lots of facial tissue, and like to keep a box of it in every room, try buying some adhesive-backed paper, and covering your metal or plastic containers to match your furniture. Hardly shows at all this way. This fabulous product also comes in different grains of wood, (walnut, mahogany, blond) and also marble effects, and would enhance the appearance of any room. Pretty! Our living room has all black furniture, so I covered that tissue box with solid black plastic. I used matching pink covering for the bedroom and bath. Since the kitchen is white, and the counters are white with gold spackles, I almost perfectly matched this! Too, when a cover becomes soiled, all it takes is a swipe with a sponge to wipe it clean. Sure looks nice. If you don't keep a box of facial tissues in your kitchen, you don't know what you're missing! That's the one place I couldn't be without 'em. Heloise Dear Helofse: Another use for those large plastic bags from the drycleaners, is to hold freshly laundered and-or starched clothing after sprinkling. You will find your clothes evenly dampened after an hour or so, and will iron beautifully. Mrs. Frances Eastep Copyright, 1966, King Features Syndicate, Inc. Tiddlywink Players Claim Championship; No Competition WATERLOO, Ont. (AP) -"If you squop my wink, it'll be a difficult squidge to score a plop." Sound strange? Well it's not a bit strange to a group of students at the University of Waterloo who have formed a tiddly-wink club pnd claim the Canadian championship for the game. Why the Canadian champion ship? "You see, there was no other club to challenge us," says Colin McLeod, organizer of the club which now boasts more than 80 players, "some came to laugh, but stayed to play." The ultimate goal is to challenge Harvard' University next month for the North American "wink title" and then challenge Oxford University for the world title. Eight members who really know their tiddlies-or winks-will be chosen to play the matches, but McLeod, a graduate student from the University of Aberdeen, says members are having trouble with their "squops." "To squop," he explains, "is to cover your opponent's wink with your wink and prevent him from plopping or snapping it into a cup. Then of course, you must squidge your own wink and land it in the cup " Sell unwanted items with a Progress Classified Ad. Classified Ads brings results.
