And 1 found by the books at the Clerk’s office they had received all the money that their work come toon the front and main building, and two ihoaeand dollars on account of the back building. Supposing of (murae that tbe mea-aiircineni of the building was correct I went on with that impreMion till Yoot & Kelly got the
back building measured, which they done without letting nfo juiow that they had spoke to any
person to measure the same, or Uie time they were to be there. The brat lhal I knew ot tbeir measuring was when 1 went out in the ffiorniiiK oi that day, Mr. Masson aaid to me they are measuring the atone work, or something ol that sort of an expreasioa. I then went to tea what measuring they bad dona, and fooiid ihay bad taken more than halt the minutes, and 1 did not pay much attention to what they dotw afterwards; lor 1 intended to measure it myself betore 1 would Eign the bill, which I did, and could not make ns much in amount by some fire hundred dollars, and so I reported to tbe committee, and to Mr. Yoai; he then handed the bill to tbe chairman ot the tXMnmittee, and the committee oflered a resolution in (Council to have the building measured, which was ordered (o be done, and the arnmUtao directed me lo have it measured, which 1 have done, and I herein present to your honorable body the result.
