Pike s ?"tho regular dramatic enter t moments of the season were resumed at this House last i get by the representation of Quot Haflet a with or. Al who Adams As the melancholy Bane. His Concep a of the character differs from that of most actors o essay the difficult part and his rendition of it is on the whole very Good. Or. Adams had a very Bair audience and was flattering by received and treated by it from first to last. 7 it night he will appear As Rover in Quot wild Oats a one \ or. Murdoch to great characters. Met part ?"hellr.?"this wonderfully versatile go kilns had the largest audience last night that we have seen packed into the capacious Walls of Mozart Hall for Many a month to witness his reappearance Here after an absence of four years during v Lich he has lost none of his remarkable attractive a i is and has gained much in the Way of reputation Felt would be difficult to convey a Correct idea of the character of Heller to entertainments. They Are a staying interesting amusing instructive and Gratifying throughout and Combine More enjoyable things than any other performer in his Peculiar line offers. His piano performance which is in itself Worth the 1 ice of admission is not excelled by any professional Mist in the country and the mystery of the second it is As much of a Puzzle As it was when introduced our amusement seekers years ago. To night Heller offers another varied programme f and will attract another crowded House. \ National ?"the pretty my Tlle Marietta Ravel v Horn every body remembers As one of the chief attracts of the celebrated Ravel troupe attracted a fair Idiece last night and was warmly applauded in her Graceful performances on the tight rope. Jishe will perform this evening in connection with the usual dramatic representations. Wood to ?"the same programme will be re heated at this theater this evening one of the Best to it leation of Success. Their programme is aade up of the Best selections from the whole repertoire of negro minstrelsy and an excellent entertainment pay be expected from the troupe. A Grover to German opera troupe ?"the management of Pike to opera Honse has just concluded a negotiations with Leonard Grover the famous impresario of German opera for a Short season commencing next monday night. Or. Grover has organized a spleen lid troupe and we feel assured that one of the greatest Eric triumphs of the year is in store for his venture in this City. The lists of his company and his repertoire vill be published in a Day or two. Annual report of the county officers interesting items. The county commissioners have prepared their ninth annual report for the year j ending september 5, 1865. Below we give an a tract. Notwithstanding the heavy disbursements made by the Board the funds of the county Are in a Mot excellent condition for proof of which vide the reports of the county auditor and treasurer which Are Here Given. The amount received from the state Levy for the Relief fund was $245,560 from it the county Levy $125,573 Ami int disbursed by to township and Ward trustees $292,858, leaving a a balance of $78,265. The sum of $100,000 had been transferred from the county fund to the Relief fund since which $50,000 has been re-tran9ferred to the county fund leaving the Relief fund still in debt which will be adjusted As soon As the distribution of the june taxes is Complete. The commissioners disbursed the various funds necessary to the trustees of the different wards and townships to be by them distributed to the families entitled thereto by Law amounting to 4,416 families since october 8, 1864. About $13,970 of the widows to fund was disbursed leaving a balance of $8,340. Bridge8. The heavy and frequent Rains during the last year swelling Rivers creeks and ravines to an extent hitherto unknown have been the cause of great damage to our Bridges and culverts in consequence of which the commissioners have been compelled to build thirty and repair forty six of the former and to build and repair Twenty four of the latter at a total Cost of $45,626. The Bridge Over the Whitewater River near Elizabethtown which was burned in june 1864, was decided to be rebuilt Over the great Miami below the Mouth of Whitewater at a Cost of about $100,000. Volunteer uniforms. At its tast session the legislature authorized the commissioners to Levy for the purpose of refunding the Money advanced by citizens to Purchase uniforms for the National guards which Levy was made being 22-100 of a Mill on the Dollar which it is thought it will be sufficient for the purpose being about $35,000. Last year judgment was obtained against the sureties of Hatch a Langdon foi$46,981. It was agreed upon consultation by the commissioners that Buchanan a Perrin two of the sureties should be released upon payment of $25,000, and the Assignee $6 ,000?"not releasing their co defendants who were parties to the judgment. The solicitor deserves credit for the manner in which he managed the Case. County infirmary. The commissioners in conjunction with the Board of infirmary directors having made an examination of this institution it was the unanimous opinion of both boards that the lands and buildings of the in a fir nary were insufficient and inadequate to the wants j of such an institution and that if possible some other place must be procured. A number of farms Ware offered at reasonable rates none of which however seemed suited to the purpose. An offer was also received through the directors of John k. Green to farm containing 119 acres for $40,000. A this was declined the Board of commissioners deeming the Price too High. Being unable to agree on any thing that would be of any Benefit to the institution or the Public the two boards adjourned. Other reports. We find from the auditor to report that his total receipts have been $9,410,411, which is exactly balanced by the expenditures. From the sheriff to report we find that the fees collected by him during the last year with expenses in collecting ac., deducted amount to $923 04. The total amount of jury fees collected by the sheriff from january 2, 1865, to september 4, 1865, inclusive is $1,105. 8ince the last report of the directors of the county infirmary there has been erected a school House and room attached for a dispensary at a Cost of $875. The general expenditures of the institution for the past year amount to $12,740. The whole number of persons now in the institution is 220 of these 140 Ware admitted during the past year. The number of deaths was 25 the most prevailing malady being apparently from the teachers report we learn that 19 scholars were enrolled at the beginning of the term 10 discharged and 7 admitted leaving 16 at the present. The first annual report of the superintendent of the county jail shows that the total number of commitments during the year has been 2,081 number of persons sentenced to hard labor 91?"52 males and 39 females. The whole expenses of the jail amount to $13,660 deducting from which $1,587, collected for the maintenance of United states prisoners the actual expense is $12,072. \ r workingmen Coffee room a something practical. E visited yesterday the workingmen to Coffee room an institution just opened on the North West Corner of Columbia and John streets by the Young men to Christian association of this City. The first floor is occupied by Small tables and chairs in restaurant style and in a room Back Are the Kitchen arrangements for the preparation of food Coffee and soup. Up stairs is a Reading room where daily papers of All the cities of the eat and West As Wall As Lulu aerated papers journals and magazines will be kept on file. Here is something Well Worth Haring. In the heart of a manufacturing District of the City is located an institution to which at any hour of the Day up to 10 of clock at night the tired Mechanic May repair enjoy for the nominal Price of ten cents a cup of excellent Coffee and a Aish of Good vegetable and meat soup with the Best of crackers smoke his pipe or Cigar read the news if the Day Conreras with Bis fellow workmen or my an hour at a game of dominoes chats or draughts. It simply draws him away from the vile Liquore and unfortunate associations of the dunking Saloon and gives him intellectual and bodily Comfort and enjoyment at one Quarter the Price he would be Able to obtain it elsewhere outside of the Home Circle. Here is a Way of practically effecting much Good and we doubt not that the Enterprise will meet with great Success and that in the course of a Short time there will be Many of these workingmen to Coffee rooms in this City. The opening of this institution took place yesterday. Formal exercises of inauguration will be had next monday night. In the mean time and during his absence i heard so much talk about miss Tennessee Cufflin living at 422 West fifth Street and the wonderful Powers of mind she possessed to delineate and Point out the incidents and events of human life i went to her for Relief and she at once told me for Why he left and that she would make him soon return and bring the boy with him and be did return with the boy just As she told me he would. And she further told me he would soon leave again and take the boy with him unless i was very careful. In the Conree of four weeks he did leave for parts unknown to me and took the boy along. After some months i went again to see miss Tennessee and she told me at once that he was in the City of Chicago and that she would make him lend for me and this morning november 22, 1865, 1 got a telegraphic dispatch from him to come to Chicago by the first train and signed John Bass.
