presented for consideration at the regular session of City Council The total estimated receipts for next year amount to S65850300 nnd the estimated expenditures total 893530933 a deficit of ac cording to the report submitted by Councilman John J Luttrell director of the Department of Accounts and Finances And this estimate of expenditures is caking into consideration that every municipal head has cut his appropriation to the bone In some cases the personnel of certain de partments has been greatly reduced and the salaries of all councilmen have been reduced 10 per cent As a retrenchment move in his department Councilman William M Powel introduced an ordinance which was passed on first reading which dispenses with the office of Health Officer and of one Health In spector This leaves but one in spector who will be subject to civil service He will be designated as Supervisor of Health The only other employe in the health department will be a clerk who shall be ap pointed by Council and
