A onetime employer said the Man John Linley Frazier 24, was a Good worker very punctual and Gary Hamby 23, manager of a bar in nearby Capitola said his onetime buddy liked to pick on we teased him about his Middle name Linley when he was Young. Maybe that s Why he went around hitting every he said Frazier was not a loser. He d win because he s pretty Slick. If he could t talk his Way out he d fight his Way Hamby and Frazier were pals until their freshman year of High school. A few weeks after starting at Santa Cruz High school Frazier dropped out. Hamby said Frazier did t like school and could t make Hamby said he ran into Frazier a month ago in Capitola. He was t like anyone i know. There s hippies and there s hippies but he was far Frazier became a service station attendant and Auto Mechanic but later dropped that too. He returned to his native Ohio and married in 1966. He is separated from his wife. The owner of a service station in nearby Aptos who employed Frazier for several months in 1966 described him As kind of Peculiar Short tempered and Quick to use profanity. But an owner of Putney Terry Auto repairs where Frazier worked from november 1968 to August 1969, said it seemed that most of the people who worked with him liked him. We had no problem with him at All. He was a Good worker very punctual and conscientious. His reason for leaving was to take a Job where he thought he could get More Money or a better the owner said. The District attorney s office said Frazier was in the Santa Cruz area for the last seven or eight months at several Dif Ferent addresses. It said he made two trips to los Angeles during that period. One of Frazier s latest hangouts was a ramshackle Saloon frequented by Tough motorcycle gangs and hippies and hidden at the end of a dead end Road in a Canyon of the Santa Cruz mountains 15 Miles from the City. Frazier s residence was a dilapidated cowshed behind a half dozen larger similar structures.
