HAUNTED BY A GHOST.Colored People Near Plainfield Disturbed by an Apparition.[Special to The Indianapolis New* ]PLAINFIELD. Ind., February 24.-The colored people near Clark creek bridge, between Plainfield and Mooresvllle, are much disturbed over a report that a ghost la frequenting that vicinity. The apparition is said to be in the form of a headless woman, clothed in white, with the exception of a black veil thrown over the stumn of her neck. The figure is talland slender, and often when farmers and others are driving along the roadway itis alleged that the apparition can be seengliding along. Some of the particularlysuperstitious assert That moaning words are heard. “My head Is gone, my head Is gone,” while the hands are wrung as if In anguish. Several times the figure has been shot at, and stones and clubs and other missiles have been thrown, but with no more effect than if hurled at space. Some of the older people assert that forty years ago a girl was murdered on the eve of her marriage by her father, and every thirteen or fifteen years the apparition returns to haunt the bridge which was the scene of her tragic death.
