He became the head abbot at the Daikoit temple after his parents died within a few days of each other last June. He took over from his father at the behest of his family with the agreement of the parish Giyu began studying for the priesthood at the age of Kl Now, his day begins and ends with tin' ringing of the temple bell Mthough he is still too young to officiate at formal rites, he is often asked to recite prayers for the dead He says he mastered all important prayers of his sec t while accompanying his father on priestly calls.
