Cedar Rapids Gazette (Newspaper) - April 21, 1974, Cedar Rapids, Iowa Food Service Meeting Set At Roosevelt "Child Feeding — Challenge of the 70’s” is the theme of the annual Iowa School Food .Service Assn. convention to be held at the Roosevelt hotel and Veterans Memorial coliseum Thursday through Saturday. Vern Carpenter, chief of school food service in the Iowa department of public instruction, will open the convention with a “braindusting” session Friday at 3 p.m. at the coliseum. State Superintendent Robert D. Renton and Tom Smith of Brenton Ranks in Marshalltown will be principal speakers at the banquet Friday at 7 p.m. at the Roosevelt. Marjorie Akers of Cedar Rapids, former association president, will install the new officers. Friday morning and afternoon activities include officer training, meeting of the house dele-; gates and exhibits. The Saturday morning program Includes a ‘‘Carousel of Ideas” and a panel discussion and demonstration e n t i tied. ‘‘Capsules of Concern”. A “Conversation and Calories” luncheon will conclude the convention Saturday noon with Dr. John Perryman of Denver. Colo., executive director of the ASFSA, speaking. Oretta Rrust of Mason City is the ISFA president. Other officers are: Alfreda Jacobson. Perry, president-elect; Velma Hirst, Des Moines, secretary, and Esther Bendon, Cedar Rapids, treasurer.
