She had fallen asleep with a Kool in her Kisser. Yours truly s All time High was two packs a Day. My All time Low was the sunday morning 1 crawled to the Back of the fireplace in Pursuit of a half smoked butt tossed there by a Square with whom ordinarily i would t shake hands without first donning a Glove. The urge the All consuming habit was such that i frankly admitted it was something Over which i had no control. No one cares to admit weakness but this was so obvious it could t be hidden. Today7 however i am free Haven t smoked a cigarette pipe or Stogie for three years and have no desire whatsoever to Start. No moral reason involved merely glad to be emancipated from the in convenience of it. Actu ally i m probably getting As much smoke As Ever Only now it is first filtered through the lungs of friends. Wish i could report the cure was effected by heroic Resolution. It was t. I d be smoking like a Kaiser Chimney to by f. G. Hun Yon Day but for the fact the initial grip of the Weed was broken by my being confined in an oxygen tent. One just does t smoke in an oxygen tent unless of. Course one wishes to blow a Wing Offen the hos Pittle. When one smokeless Day was extended to two and then to three a desire to stretch abstinence to four became an obsession. Well i m still stretching although at first i found myself reaching for and almost lighting cigarettes subconsciously. Do i Peel better yes but frankly not As much As i expected. My senses have increased or should i say recovered alarmingly. I can smell things i could never detect before an accomplishment which has both its Good and bad Points. Appetite the new found enemy has almost driven me Back into the fireplace. Within a year i had gained 25 pounds not one of which was needed. The past two years have been a con Stant Battle to get rid of them. The score at the moment is 15 Down 10 to go. Don t know which Calls for the More moxie stopping smoking or stopping eating. Hangovers there is no doubt smoking is the major cause of Mal de morning. Unfortunately this is a truth w h i c h would be better left unknown. I insist however that i am not preaching. I do not care if you smoke. You can Burn if you want to. But anything to excess is dangerous and for those who can t Stop Here is a suggestion Light up whenever you feel like it but the moment the cigarette is no longer absolutely essential tap it out even if you have to Light another in two minutes. This is a Little expensive but the business of constantly lighting and putting them out will keep you from dragging Down the Short hot ones and because of the inconvenience involved in crease the intervals be tween smoking. What goes for smok ing goes for eating. It is not necessary in this scientist s opinion to give up eating entirely. In fact it is inhuman to deny oneself the pleasurable experience of occasional Over indulgence. Don t put food in your Mouth just for the Sake of stuffing your Gullet. Here again the sip will suffice for the gulp. All meals Are not Gustat orial de lights. In fact very few Are actually prepared with Loving care.
