Protesting member challenged to inquisition ice with a Challenge to a debate to the Council and its activities. A to the editor the bulletin has recently published the letters of two self appointed defenders of the Chatham Avalon Council Faith in answer to my letter published april 21. These letters typify the arrogance of the present Council Tho letter from Marcia Vespa assistant chairman of Subarea two dismissed my complaints As not being representative and discussed the Virtues of the chairman of Subarea two. This chairman it seems instituted a program to have Block clubs a a identify with the problems and programs of the Council. These a a leaders should spend less time patting themselves on the Back and the Council members on the head. They would then have time to Institute a program in which Block clubs and individual members would help define the Council program and not be brought in As an after thought to a a identify with previous decisions. In his letter Louis Fitzgerald chairman of the councils housing and zoning committee stated that he knows what the Council has done. I am pleased to learn that Committer chairmen know what is going on. There is yet Hope for those members who wish to be informed a they May aspire to a committee chairmanship. Or. Fitzgerald questioned my participation in the Council. Despite no communications from the Council i have contributed to both the Council and the Mosquito fund but i have yet to see a Public accounting of All funds collected. I have also appeared before the zoning Board of appeals but i have had my fill of the mob scenes staged there by or. Fitzgerald. Both of these key questions raised by or. Fitzgerald suggest that Council a a leaders Are Only interested in the members Mon try to finance activities which the a a leaders determine and the members warm bodies for demonstration purposes at the appropriate time and for reasons the a leaders alone deter Mim this appear to be the extent of the a a leaders interest in Council member participation. Or. Fitzgerald closed his it it thus appears that when a member objects to the Way the a a leaders run the show they will face a a Public inquisition i would have accepted this Challenge but since the information on what the Council is doing is limited to committee chairmen and the a leaders a and since i am Only a $2 member i would be at a definite disadvantage. In closing i would like the a a leaders to know that contrary to what they think it is possible for a member to be for the Community for the Council and against their High handed ways which they excuse As being utilitarian. It is hoped that the Man slated by the a a leaders for ratification As the new Council a a Leader at the annual meeting will see the Light and alter some of the present policies. I shall Light a can die in the window to maintain he Hope of increased democratic participation. Lets Hope he sees the Light. Until he does i will ave my $2 for Washington Park Ace track.
