Peacefully at Health Sciences Centre, and on her own terms, Linda Diane Forsyth of Pipestone, Manitoba, fought hard and lost her battle with cancer at the age of 51. Linda is the beloved wife of 25 years and soul mate of Kenneth Forsyth, and loving mother of daughter Tracy. Linda leaves to mourn her precious life, her parents, Rev. Fr. Peter and Jeanette Chorney of Wpg; her best friends and sisters, Susan (Karl) Brosch of Wpg and Judi (Joel) Fournier of St. Albert, Alberta; brothers-in-law Glenn (Val) Forsyth and Robert Forsyth and Eva of Pipestone, Mb; nieces and nephews, Cary and fiance Crystal, Jessica, Chamal, Luke, Holly and Adam. She was predeceased by her son. Kent in February (2002), father-in-law, James (2001), mother-in-law, Mararet (1995), nieces Katie and Hanna (1995), grandparents Leonard Zalutsky (1986), Verna Zalutsky (1987), Wasyle-na Chorney (1989) and Wasyl Chorney (1971). Linda was bom April 27, 1951 at the Women's Pavilion in Winnipeg. She attended school in St. Vital. She enjoyed reading and excelled at writing poems some of which were published in the Winnipeg Free Press. She enjoyed singing and participated with a Winnipeg group called Sin Out Winnipeg were Up With People was their theme song. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1972. She went on to work at Deer Lodge Centre, the Government of Canada at Veterans Affairs and most recently in the kitchen at the Pipestone Livestock Sales. Linda married Kenn in September 1977. They moved into their first home on Hillcrest Ave. and were blessed with a son, Kent in 1980. In 1981, they took the challenge of converting their 'city lives' to the country and purchased their farm in Pipestone. Here the 'city girl' thrived as she became the 'domestic engineer' of the farm. She became very involved in the community and the farm became her sanctuary. In 1984, Tracy was born and their family was now complete. Linda was gentle, caring sort. She devoted herself on the well being on her family by giving ultimate love, time and respect. Never condemning, she always looked for the good in a person or situation and this rubbed off on the people around her. Her hospitality, home baked goodies and gifts, righrto the 'magic mud' and butterfly cookies, will always be remembered. One of Linda's personal motto's was 'it will never matter whether I have a new car in the driveway or the new living room furniture, but what my kids and family will remember mc doing with them'. This is so true as she has left us with so many beautiful memories. With all that Linda dealt with this past 6 months, she has shown courage and strength that is above commendable. From this, Linda has enabled those surviving to become that much stronger in our day to day lives and how we handle life's situation, linda's unselfishness has shown to her family and friends, as instead of dwelling on the pain she was enduring, she prepared us to celebrate her life after she passed. Thank you Linda! The family would like to thank the staff on GH-4, Sixth Floor Dialysis and GA-4 at Health Sciences Centre and the Cancer Care Doctors. A special thanks to Marilyn Bruce who was there from the beginning to the end. In the last few months, so much enjoyment came from time spent discussing family or events or just joking around with the kind and compassionate staff. You were like family to us and we will miss you all. Also to the staff at the Brandon Hospital for the short while Linda had dialysis there. Special thanks to those who called, visited and sent cards and flowers. Eternal rest grant unto her, O I J) rd! And let Perpetual light shine upon her. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday July 3, 2002 at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday July 5, 2002 at the Pipestone Community Hall, Pipestone, Mb. at 2:00 p.m. Internment at the Pipestone Cemetery with a luncheon to follow in the Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Kidney Foundation of Manitoba.
