Graham. A memorial service for the late Bill Graham will be held Thursday, July 4, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. St. Matthew’s Cathedral in Brandon. Bill passed away suddenly at his home in Qualicum Beach, British Columbia on February 27, 2002. He is survived by his loving wife Margret (McLachlan), his son Greg (Dianne), daughter Becki (Don) Kille, and his grandchildren, Tammy, Brent and Tim Kille. He was predeceased by his wife Bridgett (Geiler) in 1985. Bill was born in Brandon, March 23, 1928. He went to school in Brandon and worked and raised his family in Brandon. Most of his working life was at Gooden’s Men’s Wear, where he became well known for his skill at measuring customers for suits. As well as many long time school friends in Brandon, Bill made many friends while serving as a member of the Brandon Kinsmen Club. Bill fulfilled a dream of moving to British Columbia in 1986, but eagerly returned to his summer cottage at Clear Lake each year. There he spent many happy summers enjoying his pastimes of landscaping and golf and spending time with his family and friends. Bill will be cherished by everyone who misses him for the generosity of his time, his sense of humor and his love of life.
WAKEFIELD: The death of Wilfred Wakefield of Brandon occurred in Brandon on Friday, June 28, 2002. The funeral service will be held in the Brookie Donovan chapel on Wednesday, July 2 at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Dorrie Flook will officiate. Interment will be in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Commencing on July 2, 2002 through to July 5,2002 contractors hired by the City of Brandon will construct a new asphalt pavement on McDonald Avenue, from 17th Street to 26th Street and a new watermain at 24th Street crossing McDonald Avenue. This work will require that the entire roadway be closed to thru traffic and access to properties will only be via the rear lanes. It is the intention of the Engineering Department that these lanes only be used by local residents and through traffic will be diverted away from the work area. The project will be done in sections with each section being closed for one day and be reopened the following day at 7 a.m.
