We arc Well entered upon the new year Aud As life is in a great Meas ure what we make it it depends then upon ourselves whether 1s81 shall be More prolific of happiness Good Luck and blessings than its predecessor 18s0. Now is a Good time to indulge in a Little retrospection and by such indulgence acquaint ourselves with our sin9 of omission and commission during the a past year. None of us can look Back upon the twelve month which have swallowed up in of time without being reminded that on life during that period was not what to would have made it. It has become the fashion to swear off or a9 Many express it a turn Over a new Leaf a at the beginning of each but such reformations Are not Well grounded they Are entered into upon the impulse of a he moment they arc not fortified with a deep firm resolve to live a better and purer life a resolve that can Only be born of an indulgence in just such a retrospection As we suggest and the result is that the Man who turns Over the new Leaf to Day turns it Back to Morrow. We line do doubt that Many a Man who on last new years Day said to himself ?o1 will Lead a strictly temperate life from henceforth a has already broken his Resolution and is once More tampering with the dangerous cup.
