The teachers Institute for Bingham county under the direction and supervision of prof. Gagon county superintendent of schools has been in session in Blackfoot All the week. Thirty five teachers were in attendance regular classes in All the branches taught in the schools of the county were organized and much practical and profitable work done. Wednesday evening be old fashion spelling a a by was held in the court room and 42 contestants stood up for the eleven prizes valued at $33, which Ivere offered by the merchants of the town. A Large crowd of citizens ladies and gentlemen assembled to witness the contest and Many an old timer Back in the crowd tested his and her spelling qualities on the quiet and some times louder than intended As words were called for the contestants. Or. Bell teacher won the first prize a handsome mantel clock. Jim Stevens a Pupil in Blackfoot school second prize a handsome pair of cases. Mrs. Or. Uivaa3, third a tourists grip. Rev. Thanksgiving Day the teachers were Banquete at the Idaho House by a some of the boys a the unknown who takes such a Lively interests in schools and school leathers. The news was kindly remembered and the invitation accepted but Lack of space prevents a lengthy report of the feast. Prof. Burrell has been assiduous in his attentions to the visiting teachers and has done much both in tiie school room and out to make the Institute a Success and the visit of the teachers a pleasant one in Blackfoot. To Day saturday prof Gagon will bold his regular quarterly examination of teachers. Resolutions passed. Resolved that the members of the Bingham county Institute hereby acknowledge their sincere thanks Aud lasting obligations to messes. Gagon for the Able and efficient manner in which each Lias presented his study and the exemplary manner in which they have conducted their respective classes during the session of the Institute.
