The excellent management of this institution commends itself to every Man woman and child in the state of Idaho. Every Good citizen of the state is an interested party because he is moved by a humane desire to have our poor unfortunate insane Well cared for and kindly treated. It will be remembered that in the cold Days of midwinter january last the main building of the institution burned but the Annex itself a Good size building then nearly completed was saved practically intact and in that the patients were made comfortable and Are Well provided for. The Board of directors the superintendent and employees did nobly to make the patients comfortable after the fire and in their work were ably assisted by citizens of Blackfoot and surrounding country. To Day every department of the institution is moving As smoothly noiselessly and successfully As that of a Well regulated family. The Board of directors Are planning for a new building. The site selected is a Little removed from the old building on elevated ground where the sewerage can be made perfect and where a Good water Supply can be obtained. The building designed will be made As nearly fire proof As possible and will be arranged for the Comfort and convenience of patients rather than for a display of architect rat Beauty or design. This building will be erected at a minimum Cost to the state. The employees and patients will do much of the preparatory work such As making Brick hauling Stone lumber Etc. Already one Kiln of 250.000 Brick Are being burned and it is probable that enough can be sold to a for skilled workmen on the main building. In carrying on this preparatory work there is no Rush no haste no overwork in it the patients Are Given Good healthy outdoor exercise. The material for Brick making is All owned by the institution and if the work is continued there is no reason Why All the outbuildings such As barns stables cow Bouses should not be of Brick and to that extent fireproof. Brick making might be made a source of Revenue As Well As to furnish healthful exercise for patients. The farm. The farm of the institution under the skilful management of or. York the principal Farmer Isa Model farm. It is a treat to visit it. The Hay crop is excellent and will yield a surplus for Market. The Fiell and vegetable crops Are also Good and will yield an abundance for summer and Winter uses for employees and patients. The institution owns Good teams of horses and mules a Good Herd of a zilch cows furnishing All the fresh milk needed a Good lot of Berkshire hogs and fat porkers enough to make from 4.000 5.000 pounds of pork for Bacon. A personal inspection by any one will satisfy him of the Good work going on. With the completion of the new building As designed and with a continuation of improvements of the grounds and farm As now being made in a few years Idaho Young As she is in the sisterhood of states will have the Model institution of if kind.
