Big Stone Gap Post (Newspaper) - February 25, 1920, Big Stone Gap, Virginia Special offer on Garden seeds. John w. Edmonds editor and owner. For All who buy medicines too Oman court House. A entered at the Post office at Accomac o. B. Va., As 8eoond-Claas matter. Saturday March 11, 1911 the virginian Pilot endorses the views of the Enterprise set Forth in an editorial article in its Issue of the last week in regard to a Bond Issue for the improvement of our roads advises the supervisors of the county to at upon the suggestion of the Enterprise to take the necessary Steps to put it up to the people a to say whether or not they want Good roads and Are willing to Bond the county in a sufficient sum to secure them a a and states that the logic of our View in the matter a is not to be successfully the editorial article of the virginian Pilot in part is As follows a a Accomac 3 among the richest and most prosperous counties of the state. Being distinctly agricultural it is All the More important that it should have a system of Good hard roads to facilitate and cheapen the marketing of its enormous products. Its people Are intelligent progressive and far sighted. When a Small mountainous county like Wise does not hesitate to tax its credit to the amount of seven Hundred thousand dollars for Road construction purposes it is inconceivable that a Large and prosperous county like Accomac would balk at issuing two or three Hundred a thousand dollars Worth of Bonds for a like purpose if the question were submitted to the vote of the people. Our suggestion to the supervisors of Accomac is to act upon the advice of the Enterprise and to act promptly. If they do we Are confident they will have no reason to regret their action nor any cause to be disappointed at the the supervisors of Accomac at their meeting on monday discussed the matter and one of their number approved the views of the Enterprise but no action was taken. The Light will Dawn upon them though at a Day not very Remote it is to be hoped that we Are living in an age of Progress and that they must get out of the Quot old ruts and take a broader View of the things pertaining to the present Day.
