Bennington Banner (Newspaper) - April 1, 1965, Bennington, Vermont 12-Bennington Banner thursday april i 1965prince s restaurant takes Industrial league tourney with 46-36 Victory Over Nadeau a fuels in fast moving game wham a Ron Nadeau White blocks out a shot by Tony Tomasi during the first Quarter of the game Between Nadeau s fuels and Prince s for the Industrial league title. In foreground is Fred rushed who along with Nadeau was Given an individual trophy after the contest. Nadeau Bushee i Iii basketball awards by Bill Prince s restaurant led by former Bennington Catholic High Star Fred Bushee topped the Nadeau s fuels team last night at Beni 46-36 and won the Bennington Industrial league championship. Bushee besides leading the Prince s squad to the championship with a 14-Point total and his Ball control was named the Best sportsman for the tournament and was in line for the trophy Given to the Man with the highest average. Hon Nadeau won that trophy for his team with a 17 Point average in the tourney and scored another 17 last night. The game got off to a slow Start for both sides although the action was just As fast and hectic As would be found in a pro championship game. Nadeau a jumped off to their first and Only Lead in the game outscoring Prince s 9-6 in the first period. Leading Nadeau s to their first Quarter Lead was Nadeau who pushed in two layups for a total of four Points. Jim Myers was second with a Basket and a free throw for a total of three Points while Bob Nolan finished out the scoring for Nadeau s with one Basket. Scoring for Princess was Bushee and Stan Niegoda with a Basket apiece and Dick Bleau and Leon Lemieux with one foul shot each. Prince s was not going to take All this lying Down and began hitting in the second stanza while controlling the backboards and forcing Nadeau s into losing the Ball through Speed and agility. Nadeau s was held to just five Points in the period while Princess garnered 12 to take an 18-14 half time Lead. The score at half time was the closest that Nadeau s got to the new Industrial league champs throughout the rest of the game.
