Resolutions Merit the Baptist state convention at its recent meeting in Newport adopted a series resolutions the contents which has not yet been Given the publicity which they deserve. The com Mittee which drafted the resolutions consisted no less than seven prominent clergymen and laymen and it is interesting to note they were passed unanimously. This is rather an important Point since the resolutions uttered no Uncertain voice on some most important matters both ecclesiastical and Politi Cal. It is not necessary to read be tween the lines to get at the mean ing the various recommendations and endorsements. And the membership the Baptist Church in ver Mont follows out the spirit these resolutions something is bound to happen that May Well cause serious reflection in some quarters. The resolutions take up to Date ground on the question Over Church de communities approving the method used by the evangelical churches in affiliating in the Over Church de communities thus saving the duplication pastoral care the elimination needless whatever May be said conditions elsewhere evidently the baptists Vermont recognize that human beings Are More valuable than creeds and conservation resources is prefer Able to segregation sects. The Resolution on he inter Church world movement is absolutely fair rendering Honor where Honor is due going on record As heartily sympathetic with the spirit the move ment and recording its conviction the Christian spirit at the Bottom the scheme. The Resolution heartily endorses the spirit Christian cooperation which gave Conception to and by which was builder the inter Church world movement and further that we As a convention recommend and endorse further cooperation and re organization upon sane at this time when there has been thoughtless slander one the greatest the most far sighted schemes for world evangelization that has Ever been conceived it is refresh ing to read the utterances men who have been in close touch with the in Ter Church movement and who know the True inwardness the plan men who recognize the mistakes that have been made but who also magnify the devout spirit and the Christian con keep Tina the whole program tenth Resolution on the enforcement . Prohibition is however tire most unmistakable them All. The Resolution hits the Nail on the head and Thea clinches it after it is driven in. It Calls not Only for the enforcement Law but Points out that the Only Way to get it is to elect men to office who Are pledged to enforce the same. The Resolution is not vet it is not even "moist.". It is not in favor enforcing the Law until we get it it does not even squint at the fallacy that the fed eral government has put one Over n the people it brands As slanderous and unmitigated non sense the statement that the 18th amendment for Federal prohibition was forced through Congress and the state Legislatures by a powerful and irresponsible organization operating through paid agents with unlimited funds.". And in so Many words it " ays resolved that we As a convection appreciating the moral Vic tory As a result the adoption the prohibition amendment hereby assure the authorities our moral support in its maintenance and that we advise our constituency to vote for such candidates for Public office will pledge themselves to the sup port the 18th amendment and the Laws enacted for its enforcement " commissioners notice estate Zaidee e. The United states govern ment had already passed a similar Law to modify that doctrine which Gladstone More than 30 years ago denounced As barbarous. As. Early As 1904 or. Doubtless the new Hampshire people have a similar feeling. Waterbury record. There Are some roads in Vermont which Are Superior to the Best in new Hampshire for the reason that new Hampshire after building a splendid system trunk lines did not pay close enough attention to their up keep. One the Vermont roads behave in mind is in the Connecticut Valley Highway through the town Guildhall in northeastern do not know whether commissioner Bates had anything to do with the construction this Highway but we Are ready to assert that it is a finely constructed Road As Good As anyone could ask for. From the Lunenburg line North to Maidstone this main Highway is a Motorist s de i Arhat. So smooth and free from the washboard effect is it. In tact barring 1 a few stretches the entire River drive northward from Lunen Burg to the Canadian. Line is very satisfactory while the scenery alone the route is calculated to rest and de Light the Motorist.
