I Washington nor. 5.?chief Parris of the fire department submitted his annual report to the District commissioners today he Renews his recommendation fora new engine House in the Southeastern Section of the City and also that for a double truck House in Tho Centre of the City. He advises an increase in Tho number of watchmen attached to the Ore department from three to five. He asks that Congress appropriate a Reserve Relief fund Foi disabled firemen and says a was the present Relief fund now stands its additions Are exhausted continually by the two pensioners who Are paid from it. Ninety nine employees of the fire department contribute one Dollar each per month for the support of this fund which Little More than pays the $50 per month to Martin Cronin and $ 50 per month to mrs Ethan Allen. It will be seen therefore that the Small balance which has been Sinco the fund was created would be inadequate to pension other firemen who Are in danger of being killed or maimed for life at any moment. It is More than True that the firemen Are now being taxed to the fullest extent of their Means and it would be a disgrace upon humanity to further impose upon hts plan of Relief is thus developed a would it not be a Wise and h mane procedure for Congress to set aside a sum As a a sinking fund a the interest of which should be available to certain amounts to disabled men according to disa by titles received in his Lino of duty a Sec., the evident intention of the recommendation being the investment of a Gross amount by Congress in interest paving Bonds for the purpose mentioned.
