Heroin SellerCharged|!MWith PerjuryA convicted Oxnard heroin dealer was charged with perjury Monday for denying in court that he inplieated a suspected major dope peddler later indicted by the grand jury.Bias Arzabal, 31, awaiting sentencing as a heroin seller, was arraigned Monday inVentura Municipal Court on acharge of committing perjuryi in a court hearing for Abel Bautista, 30, of Oxnard. !Bautista is tentatively scheduled for trial Sept. 17 in Superior Court. Another narcotics case was pending against him when he was indicted by the grand jury April 26. County narcotics agents accused Bautista of being a major figure in local heroin traffic.Arzabal, also allegedly a major heroin dealer in Oxnard, iwas brought back from a state diagnostic center to testify in a pretrial hearing for Bautista, who is challenging the legality I of arrest-seareh procedures used against him. (A local judge had ordered a diagnostic ; study of Arzabal before sentencing him.)Deputy Sheriff Russ Whit-meyer testified that information from Arzabal played a key role in the Bautista case. Arzabal contradicted the deputy and was later charged with perjury.
