tiou last evening was extremely critical.We have heretofore mentioned the fact that some thief broke open the cellar under Mr. J. W. Banning’s house, on Front street, two or three nights since, and stole therefrom a keg or lard, three hams and a hrkin cf butter. Yesterday, Detective Butts visited the house of James Sheehan, at the corner of Front and Greenup streets, where he found two of the hams and portion of the butter. He arrested Sheehan and took him before Esquires Francis and Tebbs, who, after hearing the proof in the case, commit ted him to jail in default of $300 bail, for his appearance at the Criminal Court.Dennis Haaly, aged about 11 years, was caught on Wednesday evening, in the act of robbing tho money-drawer at T.
