Arlington Daily News (Newspaper) - August 22, 1976, Arlington, Texas Home of the week game room a a fireplace is situated Between Oak stained bookshelves and cabinets in the game room of the Purinton Home. This room is on an upper level from the rest of the House. Sliding Glass doors Lead to a deck outside which overlooks the swimming Pool. Through careful planning or. And mrs. Art Pinky Purinton have created for their two children and three cats an environment geared toward casual living and entertaining. Built nine years ago the split level traditional Home has been designed around the Patio and lower level swimming Pool. The heart of the House the Kitchen provides easy Access to these areas As Well As to the Hobby room and bar. The Hobby room is on the same level As the swimming Pool activities especially during the summer and fall revolve around the Back of the House. Bamboo and banana Trees provide a tropical backdrop for the 16 by 40-foot swimming Pool which is located in a private setting. A Tiki god carved out of an Oak tree trunk adds a polynesian flavor to the surroundings. The Patio just off the Kitchen is located on the upper level. It makes the perfect setting for outdoor parties since it overlooks the Pool. Beth Purinton has decorated the Interior of her Home with simplicity and Comfort in mind. A we done to have anything in the House that we done to use a said mrs. Purinton. Inside the front door of the split level Home with a Chicago used fire Brick and rough Cedar Wood exterior is the entryway. Here a mexican Brick tile floor offers a contrast to the White Walls. To the right of the entryway is the a shaped Hall leading to the three bedrooms. The living room is located to the right of the entryway the floor in the Hall has been covered with an Avocado Green patterned carpet which is identical to the carpeting used in the living room and game room. Located at the Back of the House. It features Mediterranean style furniture Avocado Green carpeting White Walls and a celery Green and White Bamboo print Bedspread. A Rabbit and several owls in a tree done in needlepoint have been framed and Hung above the bed. Mrs. Purintonn a sister did the needlepoint work a bathroom decorated with White Walls and cabinets adjoins the master bedroom. A Blue and White print Shower curtain offers a color accent. The bedrooms of Cindy and Robert Purinton Are located at the front of the House. Cindy 19, is a Sophomore pre med student at Austin College in Sherman. Robert 22, is majoring in advertising at the University of Texas at Arlington. Cindy a room is of special interest. Her Walls Are Bright with the colors of Sellow red purple Pink Lue Green and Aqua. She has painted some Peter Max characters including rocket Man a mushroom with a Frog on top and the outline of a Dove in White on the Walls. Furnishings antique White in her room Are country French. Next door is the room of Robert furnished with simplicity in mind. The room contains a waterbed and sofa. A bathroom off the Hall is decorated with White Walls and cabinets. The Cai next to the master bedroom is the Kitchen. This room has been designed As an important part of the House. A no Wax Vinyl tile with a Marble look in an off White and Buff covers the floor while an americana print Vinyl wallpaper in Gold White Green and Brown accentuates the Light Oak stained Wood panelling on the lower half of the Walls in the breakfast Nook. An Early american Oval table and chairs have been placed in front of the window overlooking the Patio. The windows feature off White curtains. The cabinets Are antique Green and the counter tops Are off White and yellow. A door leads to the Patio. Located off the Kitchen is a half Bath. The Hobby room bar and Utility area Are located at the Bottom of the stairs. The living room adjoins the Kitchen and is located just off the main entryway. Here Beth Purin ton has decorated the room around a Ceramic tree which she made. The Lemon tree has been stained in yellow and Green. Furnishings in the living area Are predominately country English. The traditional sofa is covered in a Floral print with the colors of off White Brown and yellow. Two commode tables sit on either Side of the sofa. On the other Side of the room in a Comer by the front window is an Apricot Charr. A Gold Rocker has been placed in the opposite Comer by a sugar Box which is used As storage for newspapers and tape decks. Next to the sugar Box is an Early american chair. An Oil painting of Trees and a Stream painted by mrs. Purintonn a sister hangs above the sofa. Across from the sofa hanging above a stereo console Are six framed Watercolours of various Flowers. Carpeted Steps of the living room Lead to the game room. The larg it room has a deck outside which overlooks the poo area. A Brick fireplace sits ii the Center of the Wall Fea Turing Oak stained Book shelves and cabinets. Ai antique new Engram Kitchen clock rests on Quot Tiu Mantle. A Small portion o the floor in front of the fire place has been covered with mexican Brick tile. A grouping of Early american furniture has been arranged on one Side of the room. A Pool table sits in front of the sliding Glass doors which Lead to the deck. Back Patio a casual living is achieved in the Patio the swimming Pool. This area is especially Good for in area.
