It is 139 Miles to the capital City by this route As against 132 by High Ley or Chandler but it can be made in better time especially in wet weather. From Florence one takes the Superior Road turning off the main Highway to the right just before the Large warehouse is reached after crossing the Gila Bridge. It is 17 Miles from Florence to the Junction with the Superior Road and 62 Miles from the Junction to Phoenix. There Are Large signs at the Junction and signs Between. Florence and the Junction. Several Miles of the Road Between Florence and the Junction is bad in wet weather but always passable. The Road is not completed to the Junction As yet but will be done in a few weeks. The Bridge across Queen Creek is not completed but will be opened in several weeks. Queen Creek May be crossed however at any time except following a big storm in the mountains. The Grade will be carried right through to Florence. The new Highway is encountered about three Miles West of the Junction and the Road is splendid All the Way to the Junction with the Phoenix Globe Road East of Mesa. On reaching Mesa one follows the paving through the town and on West until the end of the paving turning South at this Point. After going a half mile South turn West and follow this Road straight to Central Avenue turning North again at Central Avenue and crossing the Central Avenue Bridge which takes. One into the heart of Phoenix. It will be necessary to follow this route until the Tempe Bridge is re opened. The Road is Good most of the Way although a Little rough for Twenty Miles this Side of Florence and Between Florence and the Junction. The Mesa Between Florence and the Junction Nis covered with wild Flowers and is a Beautiful sight As far As the Eye can see. The new Highway follows South of the superstition mountains and is a very a cent route Good in All Weathers with Bridges and culverts and hard surface. It is being built by the state Highway department. This route will eventually carry All of the traffic eastward from Phoenix to Miami. Globe. Superior Ray. Tucson Clifton Safford Nogales Bisbee Douglas and All Southern Arizona Points. It is planned to eventually pave front Mesa to the Junction giving 62 Miles of paved Road eastward from Phoe Nix.
