Many guests attend informal first Nighter party wednesday in Honor of the opening of the new collegian theatre Here wednesday evening or. And mrs. Joe v. Gerbrach were hosts to a Large group of Quot first fighters Quot at a very delightful and interesting party after the first theatre performance. The party was held in the first floor ballroom of the Sheldon Munn hotel. The guests included a number of film and theatre company executives persons associated with the Ames theatre company in the construction of the collegian theatre and local and out of town friends. Or. And mrs. Joe Gerbrach were assisted in greeting the guests by or. And mrs. Earl b. Bush and or. And mrs. Waldo Mcdowell. A profusion of Flowers were used in the ballroom and on the table. The background for the four piece orchestra which played for the evenings dancing was composed of Palms ferns Woodward a and chrysanthemums. Baskets of chrysanthemums were used about the ballroom. Bob Hassett was master of ceremonies. A Buffet supper was served from an l shaped table exquisitely appointed and decorated with orchids american Beauty roses and lilies of the Valley and greenery. A most unusual and Beautiful part of the gorgeous decorations on the table was a Large vase on an of Long Pedestal which was carved from a 400 Pound cake of ice and made by the chef of the fort Des Moines hotel. The vase contained american Beauty roses in dark red color. Orchids placed on the table in front of the huge vase were surrounded by Adia Tum a rare Fern from California. At intervals Down the table were modernistic Ivory vases of pottery filled with american Beauty roses in shades of Pink lilies of the Valley and Ivory candelabra with tall Ivory tapers. At one end of the table were two Large baskets made of Candy tied with huge Satin bows and filled with mints which were served with the Coffee. Silver service was used. The Candy baskets were also made by the Des Moines chef who prepared the food served. Mrs. E. E. Everts was in charge of decorations. The Beauty of the table was not confined entirely to the Flowers for the Many Silver trays of food served were masterpieces of culinary Art both in taste and appearance. The food served consisted of hours do oeuvre Antipasto canapes Pattie fors Buffet russe French pastries bismark herring hand come Coplay Salami Rosette and cry awed mints.
