Guinn teacher and track coach at Chaparral Junior High school was the guest speaker at tuesday nights Certoma meeting. His presentation was illustrated by a number of color slides. Guinn is a backpacking enthusiast and he talked about his recent trip to it. Rainier wash., during which he scaled the Summit and Learned Many techniques of Mountain climbing. A backpacking provides a method of continuing ones individual physical fitness program beyond school a Guinn reported. Six weeks of therapy Gross and Fine motor visual perception remedial Reading and math phonics auditory training Early childhood training and infant stimulation will be provided in addition to daily recreational activities and swimming. Art speech therapy and music will Complete the programs planned for the students. Registration of students for this program should be completed at the Zia therapy Center office 900 first Street mornings before the summer session begins on june 20. However late registrations will be taken during the first Day of the summer session. In the past this program has been very successful due in Large measure to the cooperation and efforts of the Alamogordo youth who have provided Volunteer service to implement the varied aspects of the programs. We again Are asking for volunteers primarily from grades 9 up in order to assist us in giving the children a summer filled with worthwhile and rewarding experiences. The program will extend from june 20 to july 29, mondays through fridays from 8 30 . To 12 noon. All interested persons should come to the Center mornings and Complete a summer Volunteer application As soon As possible to assist with the summer program. This is open to both boys and girls. Volunteers Are expected to 1. Be ninth Grade or above. 2. Be willing to participate at least 12 hours each week and to provide own transportation. 3. Have parents permission. 4.
