with old friends to rest and to loaf and invite ones soul and to gain fresh strength and courage for the busy days to fol low So complete has been the realization of the hopes and plans that I made for June so full of the sweetest and truest pleasure that I want my friends to share it with me and so these letters will be not scientific nor stilted but the simple story of a happy womans happy holiday There has been this month at the State Agricultural college at Ames an Alumni meeting which was unique in the history of the school It was planned by some of the earlier graduates during the winter just past and included among many other pleasant features a special reunion of the graduates and undergraduates of tho tirst ten classes with their children The college grounds ere never more beautiful Broad stretches of lawn shaded by beautiful trees stately build ings and quiet homes made a picture dear to the hearts of all who have spent their school days there Thither upon the 8th of June came the old boys and girls with the boys and girls of another generation cluster ing about them grave judges and law yers teachers preachers and business men mothers of families and women of affairs some with traces of time on their foreheads and a sprinkle of gray in their hair but all with the glad light in their eyes clasped hands with tho friends of their youth and lived again the happy days wnen with life and its cares all before them they had worked and in the old college halls and the children How many they wero how happy they were how good they were From the baby of six mouths in his cab and the WCQ chap of three in his funny little overalls to the governors tall son and the sweet faced daughters of the class of 72 just entering college there were uli sizes and ages we called them the college grand children and they hadthe usual priviliges accorded lo that favored class The halls dedicated to recitation and study echoed to tho patter of little feet and the music of too with for the antPwftnxejVwKo ing the heat nnd he bui den of the day in the busy world outside those quiet boundaries Filled besides with earnest pride ia the great school which is do ingsuch
