The Baptist General Conven- tion of Texas also watered dow-n a resolution calling for Ihe end of the Vietnam War and ap- proved what some viewed as a call for more lenient treatment for marijuana offenders. The Convention voted to in- struct the Corpus Chrisli school to borrow money from "some agency other than the govern- ment" and repay the loan from the federal Small Business Administration. The Christian Education Com- mission was authorized lo ap- point an advisory committee to help find a new lender. Detectives began an Investigation on Ihe theory that Mrs. Beverly Jean Hope, 36, mother of three school age children, was the victim of a sex attack. Mrs. Hope's partly clothed body was found on the floor of a fan's bedroom in Ihe rambling brick residence on Noel Road. Her husband, Gmvcr II. Hope, found the body shortly before noon. He is president of Chaney Hope, Inc., a firm engaged in heavy mechanical construction. Hope was met at Ihe house by two other members of the firm who arrived ahead of police.
