Hariey Noyes wife of the defendant mother ol little Evelyn was attendance being unable to get here from Sparks Nevada her present home The child Evelyn was the prosecution Although the attorneys were careful in framing their questions the little girl had to tell a most shocking tale It was only upon the question of dates that the defense was able to con- fuse her Occasionally she ed herself about dates and in this So was the little girl in telling the repellent facts to the jury that those of the case were predicting this afternoon that it wM take the jury but a few minutes to reach a r diet an Investigation resulted in Noyes being taken into custody Noyes was arrested while working in a church at Washington last June 18 He was on parole from the som penitentiary for an attack upon a little girl committed in Yolo county In 1903 In 1909 in the Sacramento county superior court to a wronging a little girl He was sentenced by the J W Hughes to serve fifteen years in prison Last Christmas day was released from Folsom on parole He had been separated from his wife who lived in Nevada Noyes to Washington to live with his mother who had been given the tody of his little daughter It Is charged that the crimes began shortly after his arrival at the home of his mother Noyes former wife had occasion predicament she frequently broke down and sobbed Briefly her testimony was to the fect that two weeks after her father had been paroled from Folsom where he had been serving time for Ing another little girl he attacked her These assaults she said happened several times before
