Misses Elma Goin and Boggs went to Santa Cruz this morning Major Marion Pirkey of the Second Infantry N G C has recommended C W Thomas Jr for appointment on his staff as battalion commissary aud there seems to be no doubt that Colo nel Seymour will make the appoint ment Young Thomas Is well informed in military matters and there is no doubt that the duties of his new position will be discharged Intelligently and with enthusiasm The appoint ment will give great satisfaction to Mr Thomas many friends Major Pirkey has urged that the ap pointment be made asi early as possi ble so Thomas may be exam ined and commissioned before the regi ment goes Into camp It Is probable that Mr Thomas may be acting adjutant In the camp as Mr adjutant has been detailed to act as regimental commissary SCOTT ANNIVERSARY Miss Rose Parents Give Her a Party Monday was the anniversary of the birthday of Miss Rose Hachmann and her parents gave her a party In honor of the event About eighteen of her young friends were present and all were delighted with their entertainment j The company assembled in an arbor of vines in the rear qf the Hachmann residence The decorations and the illuminations with
