lying alongside the railroad one mile north ol Vina Tehama county The body proved to be that of James Dann who had been working abont Vina ae a laborer It is supposed that he tried to steal a ride out ot the town on the northbound freight train and fell from the car fle was 43 years old Dunn waa for a time a resident of Woodland Hli father died in Knights Landing when Mr Hoyt kept the old Union Hotel His boy was left an orphan and some kindhearted people tried to make a man ont o him bat he was always in trouble He started to read law in the office of the late John Lambert but Mr Lambert had to let him go on account of his indiscretions Dunn eventually became a tramp and was recognized as a hard character At one time or another he was in nearly every juil in the State When arrested he
