May 12 France bowed in sorrow today and paid a last tribute at the funeral of Paul Doumer the venerable ed president she liked to call er M Doumer was slain last week by an assassin's bullet Thousands Jam Streets Tens of thousands of Parisians jammed the streets this morning and stood in solemn silence as the funeral procession filed by on its way to the great cathedral of Notre Dame It was such a funeral as Paris had not seen since the beloved Papa Joffre hero of the Marne was buried in January 1931 The family with the exception of Mme Doumer followed on foot be- hind the hearse Then came the
