first video on Web site By JOANN LIVINGSTON Daily Managing Editor On Friday the city of Waxahachie released a list of seven names of people who have made the finalist list for police chief An eighth persons name was not released pending that per sons acceptance of the finalist position and pending sion of additional paperwork There had been 11 on the list of which one had removed him self from the list prior to Thursday when the city an it had 10 finalists Since that announcement an additional two have removed themselves from consideration The names and basic infor mation released so far include Instate applicants Mike Baker Most recent ly served as chief with the Bay City Police Department Nine teen years as a chief and 30 years overall in law enforce ment He has a bachelors degree The first lien was filed on Dec 19 2006 by Barry Bens miller a selfemployed con tractor in Waxahachie who said he was hired in August by Collider Data Center to make the site presentable for client for stardom as one of 22 finalists from San Antonio who advanced to the Hollywood round of American Idol When Tuesdays episode of American Idol airs many of the televisions in San Marcos and Waxahachie will be tuned on Fox McNeal in hopes of seeing McNeal a 2001 graduate of Waxahachie High School and a cur rent student at Texas State University showcase his vocals for a national audience McNeal a senior majoring in sound recording technology won first place in a solo performer category and best overall act at the Student Association for Campus Activities annual homecoming in the fall of 2004 win ning a cash prize Now the students of Texas State University and the residents of his hometown are hoping he comes back to Texas with something bigger than that cash prize a recording North Texas Southeastern Subregional Workshop civic school and development leaders gathered together to discuss the explosive growth anticipated for the area of the North Central Texas Council of Governments In the next 23 years the councils pro show that more than four million new residents will move into the region nearly doubling the current lation of about Five million Every year an additional 86000 people move to the region adding the equivalent of anew city of Carrollton every 12 months While these new residents will be following or seeking out jobs created by the regions increasingly strong economic drivers the council stresses the considerable impact the addition of this many people to the region will have and how disastrous the growth could be for the region if not
