Complete Set of Abstract Books OFFICE BRIDGE STREET CHAS B HALLIDAY Stated tlie Probability of Another Issue Is Remote WASHINGTON Sept feeling of aprehension that resulted from Fri days heavy withdrawals of gold for ex port has almost entirely disappeared from the treasury department but it has given place to one of anxiety for the fu ture None of the higher officials now in Washington so far as can be learned are in Mr Carlisles confidence to the extent of knowing his views of the sit uation or his purposes for the future and hence no one is able to speak with any certainty to what would be done in the event of continued heavy with of gold Think IsTo Issue Probable The concensus of opinion is that there will be no issue of bonds in the near fu ture in any event and that an issue be fore congress has had an opportunity to act is extremely improbable Nor is it thought that the urgency for an issue by that time is extreme It is argued that the shrinkage in the of cot ton is very unusual and far below that of any recent year and that grain ship ments surely must soon begin and that improved business will stiffen money rates A turn of the tide therefore is expected The fact too that the United States has since Jan 1 1894 exported more than in gold in excess of her imports it is claimed is a strong argument in favor of a speedy return to normal conditions Carlisle Working On a Scheme What action congress will take in the matter is problematical yet it seems more than probable that the administra tion will present some plan for the re of the United States notes now outstanding These amount to over and their presence in our currency is regarded as a constant men ace to our financial stability That some measure to this end will be presented in Mr Clevelands message at the recon vening of congress is very probable and that it is thought that Mr Carlisle is now working out a scheme by which this volume of currency can be retired without any serious financial disturb ance DEAD NUMBER SEVEN Probate ILaw and Practice a Specialty Office 103 E 4th St Waterloo Iowa HOME TREATMENT FOR LADIES Office 521 West 4th St Hours 1 to 6 p m Lady attendant CHAS U
