on change by local operators It was generally known that the cargoes had been laid down for shipment The reason for this was talked of freely Mr Baker gave as his opinion that the wheat is being brought here by the elevator men for storage He said that while he had no on the subject this was the belief of the operators He was of the opinion that Armour and Weare proba bly are back of the deal Mr Baker said the market here is lower than that of Duluth and such a shipment at this time might be of considerable import ance in the grain world WILLIAMS CAUGHT BAD AS THE JAPS Atrocities Fully as House TACOMA Wash Sept is be coming apparent that the greatest fight over the Northern Pacific receivership matter is about to come It will be be gun either on Oct 2 or before that date and it is considered quite possible that the receivers or the Farmers Loan and Trust company or the trustees will spring some surprise at Milwaukee or St Paul between now and October A prominent man in the counsels of the receivership party says that as things now stand some Highly Interesting Complications are likely to ensue Shortly after the receivers were appointed Judge Cald well of the circuit court ordered the re to file their accounts with Judge Jenkins this being the court of original jurisdiction It is said that Judge Han fords order regarding the filing of ac counts is in conflict with Judge Cald welTs order at least so far as it affects the accounts of property in Judge Han fords jurisdiction The complications are expected to ensue if Judge Hanf ord after the accounts are rendered takes any action at variance with the action of the Eastern circuit courts The belief is also expressed that if Judge Hanf ord ousts the receivers and appoints new ones the road will be in charge of Several Sets of Receivers In other words that the Eastern cir cuit courts are at least as likely to retain the receivers as they are to oust them Close friends of the receivers here de clare Messrs Oakes Rouse and Payne are all opposed to the proposed consoli dation of the Northern Pacific and Great Northern and assert that Pres ident Hills statements that the proposed deal is yet likely to be if Wheat DULUTH Sept originat ing from Crookston are to the effect that thero is a scheme on foot among the tcr elevators to skin tho farmer in the of the present wheat crop and that a combination has been formed for that purpose The claim is made that the grade has been crowded down to an alarming extent and that wheat which last year graded No 1 hard is this year graded No 2 northern at the terminals The direct charge is made that the state inspector at Duluth has dropped three notches in his grades during tho past three weeks and there are some who consider the inspection is in the Hands of the Combination There is no state inspector here but the deputy for the head of the lakes say that the rules governing the inspection are the same as prevailed last year There is nothing in
