found Howard A dead at his home at 1101 Short St Wednesday and are investigating his death as a homicide m Homicide victim was target of recent thefts By NATHAN PHELPS and CHARLOTTE EBY Courier Staff Writers WATERLOO Police are investigating the cide of an elderly Waterloo man whose home had been the target of recent thefts Officers were called to the home of Howard A Smith Sr at 1101 Short St around day after a family member reportedly found Smith's body in the home Sgt John Beckman public tion officer for the police department said investigators are not elaborating on the cause of death pending an autopsy That could come later in the day or early this evening at the State Medical Examiners office in Des Moines according to police and Black County Medical Examiner Dr Albert Dolan today ordered all American arms inspectors to leave the country escalating its crisis with the United Nations and heightening the possibility of a military confrontation The United States warned of grave consequences The demand came a day after the Security Council by a vote condemned Iraq imposed a travel ban on Iraqi officials and ened unspecified further measures if Iraq did not reverse its
