announcement is made that the mal relations between the Clearing House and the have been resumed and much satisfaction is expressed thereat This is regarded as a most reassuring circumstances wishes to any of the following Mrs X J West Water street Mrs A A Davis Second street Mrs W D Brown Liberty street Mrs W V Miss Minnie Davis and Mrs A H McKelvy Liberty street Made for their next Month About the first of August a number of of the Fresh Air Fund from New York city will Warren and be entertained people of this city and How many there will be is not as yet known but Mrs A H McKelvy who has charge of the matter at this point is actively engaged with the ments for their reception and There no doubt be a goodly number as Warren has become very popular with the children who have been here in past years They are often heard from and never fail to ex- press a desire to return and already a number of persons who have entertained children from the Metropolis have expressed a to take those whom they have given pleasant homes during seasons and others have signified their willingness to defray the expense of the entertainment of a tain number of children by other sons The responsibility which Mrs Kelvy has assumed in arranging for the children? entertainment is great and she will no doubt find willing and able assistants Her past experiences will aid her in the work and she is en- gaged in formulating a place w hereby the work will be reduced to a system and the children handled with ease and dispatch The history of the entertainment of the Fresh Air children in Warren is briefly as The first were entertained here three years ago and numbered 69 the amount of money contributed for the being The year following no children were sent here Last year with the late Mrs J M Davies at the head of the movement at this point 192 children were given homes and the money con- amounted to something over That these visits to the country by the children from the cities are not only physically but morally and socially experience has abundantly established instances can be given of the benefits resulting from these outings and no doubt in many cases a week's visit to Warren is made the turning point in the child's life f Mrs McKely is prepared to receive applications from all who ish to en- this season and all such persons should make their tions known as early as possible so that assignments may be made and sion avoided on the day of the arrival There Seems to be a Prospect That Better A TRUE STORY Which the Sturgeon Clean Out ot The Reading Discharges Men Pa brother in blood to the famous Nelson dropped dead on the track at Union Park day The cause of death was the ing of a blood vessel He was worth Knighted by Emperor William NEW YORK July William way has received from Emperor William of Germany the insignia of the Order of the Red Eagle of the third class carrying with it the honor of knighthood the first order of the kind sent to an can citizen from the fatherland The circulating of that fish story yesterday seems aroused the ambition of some to out do on other lines the shovel-nosed geon story This morning a small crowd of men were standing in front of one of our business houses and one of the men's attention was attracted to the sprouts on a head of cabbage He for Crude Oil Will be Ushered in not Long all Events There to be of Events Which a Very the Year of Jubilee in a Perhaps most people in the oil regions hail a good price for crude oil with feelings of delight although the change might be at the risk of making th refined product somewhat higher in price The people and the producer in particular have apparently been ing against hope in the matter of ex- the market to ascend and re- main at a higher point There seems to be no natural cause for keeping crude oil at the present price The conditions in the field are such as that in the natural course of events the price of crude oil should have an upward tendency instead of a ward one And no other explanation seems reasonable for the present low price than that it is the result of means It is often said that will assert herself If so the sooner in this case the better Xo ter what ways and means men may de- vise to thwart the natural tendency of a thing including the oil market the conditions being right the natural re- sult is bound to come sooner or later or else the assertion that miracles are con- trary to nature is correct the indications are that nature is at work in the oil market and sooner or later she will have asserted herself and settled the question to be done to make better times for the producer and the people T} for with the prosperity of the producer the I people thrive The first indication of the good time that's apparently coming is the ening of the strong combination that has erected the artificial barrier by the natural course of things in the market have for so long a time been thwarted It is said that the Standard Oil Company's stock has decreased in value in the course of some time from 1 70 to 20 Tt is to be hoped for the price is yet quite high enough that the good work will go on Following this decline as a natural result the Standard it is reported is cutting down its expense account by re- ducing the number of men on its pay rolls While this if true is bad for the hope they may find other places just is an excellent sign of weakness here in the body of the great combination and that the managers see the necessity of ing their resources hich may no longer he as they once were unlimited And perhaps when that limit shall have been reached the break will come and with H relief which is so much needed It is said by those who seem to be in a position to know that the dent refiners are now using 20.000 barrels of crude oil per day We are in- ed the attention of his companions to i formed that there were in stock last the matter all of whom declared that j month barrels If the sprouting cabbage is a very common dent refiners consume 20.000 barrels curence Per day days iR tne month or of the crowd a country j 000 barrels it i- not easy to understand gentleman who had the appearance of veracity about him to Say how man y of cabbage have you people ever grow on one stalk was the highest number given ami when the man from the country told them that he had seven it was more than the crowd could stand and all sat down in an exhausted state on a bench in front of the store It the country man had stopped there jail might have from the shock but when he asked the How many potatoes have you ever seen grow inside of one and w out waiting for an said I seen eight the crowd on the bench i gave up the and dropped to the j sidewalk The n reporter was j janked off of his feet carried upward and over the buildings and dropped un- ceremoniously in front of the newspaper office He will probably recover how the stock on the surface can be kept up for a very long period at the present rate of production Artifice can't hold eternal sway against the natural course of things At the pre- sent rate of consumption the tion cannot keep up the ed A break is bound to come and the lime nearer as the number of independent pipe lines increases and competition is bound to produce legitimate business methods and better prices for the crude oil Notice Notice is ghen that the recently conducted bj the firm of is being closed up All persons owing are requested to tle their accounts at once and all bills against the firm will be honored by be- ing presented to the partner 1
