moved toward settlement of a disagreement in the planning department Friday night and many individuals at a called meeting agreed that the situation was one of standing rather than insolvable problems The meeting of the County Commission and City Council was called by the building and construction committee of the Chamber of Commerce Vernon McFall chairman of the com- and chairman of the city planning commission presided Also attending the were the three members of the Walla Walla County Port Com- mission W D Ray Henry be and Ben Flathers three Chamber directors and officers Baker Ferguson Dr Byron Friedman and Richard White Chamber manager The county and city agreed that a joint planning ment was essential and more efficient They agreed to create a commission or committee of to be appointed by the city one by the county and the third by the two members to oversee the functions of county and city planning under the jurisdiction of the Regional Planning Commission The new sions is clearly provided for by statute so the Port does not feel it should use its funds for this purpose at this time The Port Commission man declared that industry wants the protection of sound and intelligent planning He said that in answering the questions of potential industrial clients the past few weeks it has been difficult not to reveal this weakness in Walla Walla County If we can't
