you Warden i John K Harris told members of I Salt Lake Elks lodge meeting i Wednesday at 139 E South Temple Mr Harris who resigned Tties day as state prison warden said he had no comment on the pov i ernors action but he was proud of many accomplishments achieved at the prison under his adminis i tration He cited a few to Elks and dis played colored films of prisoners at work tending fine herds of cat tle hoeing sugar beets feeding pigs and doing other farm work During the past two years the prison has earned the I highest record history said Warden Harris Cost per prisoner per day in Utah has been compared with 5408 per day at the federal prison at Inglewood Colo least expensive of federal penitentiaries The Colorado institution has 350 j inmates 102 employes while the Utah prlscn has 529 term for first offenders and increasing pro portionately with the number of such offenses I think corresponding jail terms should be mandatory for reckless and hitrun drivers also Mr Ieatham said and
