His first two albums, "Old No. 1" in 1975 and "Texas Cookin'" in 1976 set the standard for all singer-song-writers to follow. A young Steve Earle was mentored by Clark and lists him and Townes Van Zandt as his two heroes. Clark will be making a rare appearance Monday night at Gruene Hall. Tickets are on sale at Eruenehall.com. This will e a fully seated concert with chairs set up on the dance floor. Doors open at 7 p.m., Amy Speace will open the show at 7:30 and Clark will take the stage about 8:15 p.m. The southern rock band Whiskey Myers' CD, "Firewater," is residing near the top of the Lone Star Music bestsellers chart. The band will be doing a special acoustic set at 6 p.m. Friday at Lone Star Music in Gruene. From there, Whiskey Myers heads over to Cheatham Street Warehouse for a full band show at 10 p.m. "We've been touring very hard behind this album, playing all over Texas and surrounding states," bassist Gary Brown said. "We've opened for the Marshall Tucker Band and .38 Special, which was very cool, since both bands were big influences of ours. "The Randy Rogers Band has also been great to us, letting us open a lot of shows for them, so they have been a huge help. We have all workea so hard to get our albums recorded and to play in front of as many people as we can." • • • • • Whitewater Amphitheatre just announced that legendary Bob Dylan will be playing his only Texas date at the outdoor venue on july 24, with special guest Leon Russell opening the show. The facility also has completed a major makeover of its website, whitewater-rocks.com. Tickets go on-sale June 17. In the meantime, head out to Whitewater this Saturday night for a free show on the small stage featuring Austin band LC Rocks. This band specializes in the fantastic nair metal songs of the 1980s, so if you like Def Leppard, Poison, Motley Crue, Ratt and bands that cranked up the volume and dressing in leather and span-dex, this is where you need to be on Saturday night. There's a $10 charge for parking. • • • • • Speaking of classic rock, Rush will be performing on Sunday at Frank Erwin Center in Austin in what is being billed as "an evening with Rush." Tickets are still available at Austin ticket outlets and at the Frank Erwin Center box office. Last but certainly not least, Wade Bowen and Randy Rogers bring their acoustic "Hold My Beer and Watch This" tour to Cheatham Street Warehouse this Sunday. The dynamic duo has been joining forces every year for an extremely well received acoustic tour, which made a stop at Ker-rville Folk Festival a few weeks ago.
