Fooshee repeated as champion in the pro cable wake-board division at last weekend’s Cablestock event at Texas Ski Ranch. Fooshee edged Kyle Cameron and Julian Cohen for the title, while placing third in the SPY structure-only and pro wakeboard double-up events. Local favorite Bret Little repeated as champion in the wakeskate division, Chandler Powell won the advanced cable wakeboard title, and Louise Sawyer repeated as women’s cable wakeboard champion. Riders were pushed to the limit during the “Tricks for Cash” event, where riders were challenged to complete a trick above their skill level. Fooshee landed a 1080, which is a spin where the rider does a 1080-degree rotation while in the air, that brought the crowd to its feet. NB s Rowe inks scholarship with Evansville ri EXfiS (1 Lottery By Chris Hoffman The Flerald-Zeitung It was only a year ago that New Braunfels senior Tyler Rowe was in the middle of a painful rehab after a major injury sidelined him for the 2009-2010 season. But Rowe rebounded from adversity to be named to the Class 5A second team, and his dream of playing college soccer came true on Wednesday. The New Braunfels defender signed his letter of intent to play for the University of Evansville in Indiana. “I was waiting for this day for a long time,” Rowe said. “After the injury, I had to sit on the sidelines and watch everyone else play. That was one of the hardest things I had to endure. That helped me see how much I missed playing the game of soccer.” The Unicorn defender was also huge on the offensive end with his prowess at scoring on free kicks. Rowe was second on the Unicorns with 10 goals. “Free kicks was the factor that Tyler made such an impact for us,” Unicorns coach Larry Schaffer said. “He could score anywhere inside of 25 yards. That was huge for us.” CHRIS HOFFMAN/Herald-Zeitung New Braunfels High School seniorTyler Rowe, seated center, signs to play soccer with the University of Evansville In Indiana on Wednesday. The Unicorns defender came back from missing his junior season with a major knee injury to help lead New Braunfels to the regional semifinals this season. Rowe is joined by mother Toni and father David Rowe. Standing, from left, are NBHS coach Larry Schaffer and Dallas Texans club coach Thomas Wooley.
