McBeth receives masters in urban administration SCHERTZ — City Planner Nancy McBeth broke new ground at the University of the Incarnate Word when she completed requirements for her Master of Arts in Administration, Urban Administration Degree. McBeth, with the city since May, accepted her diploma during a Dec. IO commencement ceremony at the university. She is the first person in UIW history to matriculate with the Urban Administration degree, working closing with professors and the School of Graduate Research and Studies to develop appropriate programs and coursework for the specialty. McBeth brings 27 years of urban policy, planning, design, landscape architecture, project management, and public and private sector administration to the city of Schertz. Previous positions have included planning and development for various Texas and U.S. cities and private businesses, including Denton, Austin, Galveston; Las Vegas, Nev.; and Boston, Mass. She was nominated as 1995 member of “Who's Who,” and a 1995 and 2000 member of “Who's Who: Most Notable Women.” She has earned numerous awards, including the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association Comprehensive Planning Award and the Texas Chapter American Society of Landscape Architects Outstanding Professional Achievement Award. She also has a consulting business called Metaphoric Design.
